La Historia de Tlaxcala fue escrita por Diego Muñoz y Camargo entre 1576 y 1591. Aquí se describen la religión, costumbres, cultura, y forma de vida de los tlaxcaltecas antes de la Conquista; y se narran los acontecimientos de la Conquista de México, desde los presagios de la llegada de los españoles, hasta los acontecimientos durante el mandato de Álvaro Manrique de Zúñiga, séptimo virrey de Nueva España.

Guillermo Revuelta demuestra en esta primera novela su gran pasión por la ciencia ficción. El autor entremezcla este género con la historia, para dar forma a un mundo extrañamente familiar y reconocible, que con el pasar de las páginas se torna por momentos angustioso. Nos presenta una tierra devastada y escasamente poblada que se convierte en el centro de una serie de sucesos, a priori inconexos en el tiempo y en el espacio, que se van perfilando y uniendo a la sombra del rastro original.
