Madrid ayer y hoy propone una forma visual de acercarse a la historia de nuestra ciudad, a todos esos cambios que se producen día a día en su fisonomía. Mostrando una fotografía antigua y una actual, nos invita a la comparación evocando esas calles, monumentos y plazas tal como se presentaban en el pasado y su apariencia actual. Exhibition highlights of the international photographic collection of the Foundation Televisa in Mexico with text by 81 prestigious writers. Each writer was given a copy of a photograph from the collection (from 1840-contemporary digital works) and asked to write an essay. Some of the photographers include: Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Anton Bruehl, Robert Capa, Gisele Fruend, Graciela Itrubide, Alfred Stieglitz, Cindy Sherman, Tina Modotti. Exploring the lifestyle of a lesser-known indigenous tribe, this photographic journey captures the daily lives of the Wayuu fishermen who live in northwestern Venezuela and northeastern Colombia on the Guajira Peninsula and are known as the Apalaanchi—“people of the beach.” Showing a group of people struggling to survive, the stunning images in this collection illustrate the culture of the Wayuu fishermen, detailing their traditions, views on mysticism, and their relationship with the sea that gives them a livelihood.
