"Después de la exitosa conquista de Tenochtitlán en 1521 por Hernán Cortés y su gavilla de aventureros, nacería la Nueva España. La madre España dominaría este inmenso territorio por trescientos largos años. Tres siglos gobernados por 64 virreyes; [...] haciendo que el tiempo y el progreso se estancaran por décadas en la Colonia, como si nada nuevo e interesante pudiera ocurrir en el inmenso dominio español en América. Hechos relevantes, ocasionados por las beligerantes Francia e Inglaterra en Europa, agitarían las tranquilas aguas de la Nueva España, generando vientos de libertad, que la sacudirían en sus cimientos, despertando el descontento y la inconformidad en la Colonia, sucesos que desembocarían en la guerra de independencia, encabezada por el visionario cura criollo don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla en 1810.
