Arquitectura y paisaje es un novedoso análisis del paisajismo europeo que aporta, por primera vez, un estudio conceptual que hace especial hincapié en la tridimensionalidad del jardín. La información sobre los diferentes proyectos se ha recabado utilizando métodos de investigación científicos que han permitido realizar comparaciones topográficas de los diferentes jardines en los periodos más influyentes del paisajismo europeo. Este estudio examina el "plan racional" de la villa italiana del renacimiento (siglos XV y XVI), el "diseño formal" que alcanza su cenit en el jardín barroco francés (siglo XVII) y la "composición escénica", tal y como se llevó a cabo en el jardín inglés (siglo XVIII). Este libro facilita una nueva herramienta para el ejercicio profesional, presente y futuro, de paisajistas y urbanistas, y facilita una profunda comprensión de la tradición proyectual europea al tiempo que propone el paisajismo como una disciplina autónoma respecto al urbanismo y la arquitectura.
