A polemic work due to its hefty critic to public figures and to those who see the electoral reformations -which this book demystifies-, as a historical achievement. The transition to democracy requires not only the dismantlement of the old regime, but also the design of the new normative and institutional arrangement that preserves the plural and multiple spirit of the nation. The task is immense, but our generation cannot avoid it: citizens must not stay apart. The mixture of fill and hope has to be translated into critic, proposal, and active participation. The essays that I have gathered in this book are directly connected with this group of deceptions and hopes. But this book also examines primarily the speeches and what they hide, the rhetorical uses and abuses, the dominant interpretations and the emergent ones. Una obra que incita a la polmica por su recia crtica a personajes pblicos y a quienes ven las reformas electorales que este libro desmitifica, como un logro histrico. La transicin a la democracia no slo pasa por el desmantelamiento del antiguo rgimen sino tambin por el diseo del nuevo arreglo normativo e institucional que preserve el espritu plural y mltiple de la nacin. La tarea es inmensa, pero nuestra generacin no puede evadirla: los ciudadanos no podemos mantenernos al margen. La mezcla de hartazgo y esperanza deber traducirse en crtica, en propuesta, en participacin activa. Los ensayos que reno en este libro estn directamente conectados con este conjunto de decepciones y esperanzas. Pero adems este libro examina primordialmente los discursos y lo que esconden, los usos y abusos retricos, las interpretaciones dominantes y las emergentes.
