La expulsión de los jesuitas en 1767 fue uno de los acontecimientos de mayor trascendencia en la España de Carlos III. Los desterrados en Italia escribieron diarios entre los que resalta el del P. Manuel Luengo, conocido por recoger las experiencias diarias de aquellos jesuitas durante los años de su exilio (1767-1815) Este libro incluye la transcripción íntegra del tomo 32 de ese Diario, dedicado a 1798, un año significativo políticamente y en el que se realiza el viaje de vuelta a sus lugares de origen de muchos de aquellos jesuitas.
