El presente volumen reune los trabajos presentados durante el Congreso Internacional Sor Juana y su Mundo: Una mirada Actual, organizado por Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana en 1995. Este congreso significo para dicha Universidad la realizacion de uno de sus objetivos: contribuir al estudio, a la reflexion y difusion de la vida, del pensamiento, de la obra y del mundo de sor Juana.

Essays by specialists in several fields that document current Mexican realities and extrapolate what they might portend for country in future. Encompasses wide range of issues and trends, from ethnicity and peasant communities, to church-state relations, unions, environmental concerns, crime, higher education, urban growth, mobility, corruption, democracy and many more. Organized into sections on population, housing and cities; institutions and public policy; and insertion in globalized world.

A series of narratives based on the history of a hacienda in San Gertrudis, Chihuahua during the Mexican revolution, with focus on the incursion of rebel troops and the reaction of rural residents. The author (1944) is a native of San Gertrudis.
