Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) fue reconocido a una edad muy temprana como el principal artista de España y fue mejorando hasta convertirse en el retratista oficial de la Corte. This contrastive study analyzes the prefixation (notably the ablative type) of specific verb classes in Latin, Greek, Iberoromance languages (Spanish, Galician, and Catalan), and German. Based on the contrastive study of what is here labeled ‘preverbial systems’ and the interlingual comparison of prefixed verbs, it identifies the semantic and syntactic functions that can be attributed to these elements.
