Sinopsis del Libro

Este libro proclama la necesidad de una sólida base técnica para los arquitectos, y es reflejo del curso de Construcción que su autor, Ramón Araujo (San Sebastián, 1957) imparte en la ETSAM. La postura de Araujo, su reivindicación de esa sabiduría técnica que permite dar respuestas totales a los problemas que se plantean a los arquitectos, es bien conocida tanto por sus artículos en revistas especializadas (es colaborador habitual de Tectónica) y sus libros considerados ya como clásicos: Industria y Arquitectura (Madrid, 1991) y Construir con acero (Madrid, 1994), como a través de su extensa obra construida que abarca desde edificios residenciales, deportivos o escolares, a complejos centros sanitarios. "La arquitectura como técnica" se plantea como una breve colección de tres volúmenes. Este primer título analiza, bajo el epígrafe de "Superficies", los procesos y soluciones constructivas aplicables a la envolvente del espacio, considerada como cerramiento y estructura, en nueve capítulos: La superficie: comportamiento mecánico. Envolvente y energía. Acciones ambientales. Técnicas de cerramiento. La superficie de fábrica. Cascarones de hormigón armado. Entramados metálicos. La superficie de vidrio. Membranas.
