Delibes nació el 17 de octubre en 1920 en Valladolid. Es un escritor contemporáneo que escribe novelas de sociedades críticas (gesellschaftskritische Romane). Primero, en 1936, estudió modelado y escultura en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios. Luego, en 1940, seguió estudiando, esta vez derecho y comercio. Al mismo tiempo empezó a dibujar como caricaturista en el diario “El Norte de Castilla”. Después trabajó ahi también como redactor y en 1958 llegó a ser el director del diario citado, en el que trabajó hasta 1963. Hasta ahora trés de las novelas de Delibes fueron adaptados al teatro y unas cuantas también al cine. La mayor parte de sus obras fueron traducidos a más de veinte idiomas. Miguel Delibes recibió los más importantes premios de literatura en lengua castellana, entre los que destaca el Premio Cervantes (1993). Entre su obra cabe señalar “El camino” (1950), “Diario de un cazador” (1955), “La hoja roja” (1959), “Las ratas” (1962), “Madera de héroe” (1987), “Señora de rojo sobre fondo gris” (1991) y “El hereje” (1999).
