Exposición que, mediante la contemplación de libros antiguos, bellos y valiosos, sirve de ventana para penetrar en uno de los temás más apasionantes de la construcción de las sociedades modernas como es el de la relación de la Arquitectura con la Ciudad, a partir de los textos e imágenes que la imprenta nos ha proporcionado.

El objeto de la presente publicación responde al deseo de evaluar el edificio primigenio del actual Museo del Prado, es decir, el construido por Juan de Villanueva entre 1785 y 1808; un edificio que se proyectaba junto al recién creado Jardín Botánico para albergar su Laboratorio Químico y, finalmente, para acoger así mismo la Academia de Ciencias y el Gabinete de Historia Natural.
