Comentario filológico a los Salmos y al Cantar de los cantares

Sinopsis del Libro

Traducir de una lengua a otra es sumamente difícil. Si la lengua emisora es el hebreo y la receptora el español, lo difícil se torna complejo. Es el caso de los Salmos y del Cantar de los cantares. El hebreo y el español ni siquiera pertenecen a la misma familia lingüística. Ambos libros acumulan tantas dificultades que, para traducirlos de forma inteligible, era frecuente recurrir a las conjeturas. Se traicionaba así el texto emisor y se descuidaba la búsqueda de la Hebraica Veritas, en expresión de san Jerónimo. Ser fiel al texto hebreo; respetar el texto consonántico; preguntar a lenguas afines al hebreo (como el ugarítico, el fenicio o el eblaíta); interrogar a los diccionarios, comentaristas y traductores actuales, son deberes de quien busca la Hebraica Ventas. Mientras inquiere, se pregunta: ¿qué dice el texto?; y ¿cómo lo diré en mi lengua? El lector del presente libro tiene ante sí una traducción dinámica de los Salmos y del Cantar. La pregunta por la Hebraica Ventas, junto con el recurso a los medios mencionados, es constante a lo largo del texto.
