Los gruesos volúmenes sobre la historia de la filosofía que se encuentran en las bibliotecas de universidades, suelen pasar de largo el pensamiento cristiano, considerándolo materia ajena, objeto de otro estudio. Por otra parte, las pocas obras que hay de "filosofía cristiana" abordan temas concretos y puntuales, asumiendo que el lector ya sabe lo que es filosofía. Y por tanto obvian todo el trasfondo histórico.
