Sinopsis del Libro

Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el salón de té Embassy, uno de los centros sociales más elegantes del Madrid de la época, se convirtió en el lugar de encuentro de numerosos agentes y cooperantes secretos de los servicios de inteligencia británicos. Entre ellos, el doctor Eduardo Martínez Alonso, el padre de la autora. En esta histórica, su hija busca demuestrar cómo este médico ayudó directamente en la red humanitaria organizada por el Servicio Secreto británico, que, a través de España, evacuaba a refugiados europeos hacia Portugal y Gibraltar. Miles de perseguidos por el nazismo, indocumentados, apátridas y judíos (polacos y checos en su mayoría) fueron rescatados por el doctor Martínez Alonso, quien expidió certificados médicos falsos, creó la ruta de evacuación desde el campo de concentración de Miranda de Ebro a Vigo e, incluso, cedió su casa en Galicia para acoger a los fugitivos en su huida hacia Portugal.
